What is a
MUG?
Macintosh User Groups (MUGs) are many things to many people.
They range from a few friends who get together to share experiences and
expertise, to organized community gatherings, to global organizations
dedicated to the relentless pursuit of Mac excellence.
There is no one solid definition that encompasses all MUGs. There are
a few common characteristics which they all share—enthusiasm
for Apple Computer and the Macintosh, the desire to get more out of their
computers, and the desire to learn are among the dominant themes.
What is CACC and is it a MUG?
There are literally hundreds of Macintosh User Groups all
over the globe. CACC, a MUG, is focused on helping Mac users in the greater
Charlotte metropolitan region. Through our on-line Yahoo! discussion group,
our Club's Web site, our general members' meetings, special community
events, and a dedication to helping educators who use Macs, we have brought
together hundreds of Mac users over the years.
Everybody involved in CACC shares common interests, including a desire
to learn more about personal computing and to help others along the way.
In its truest sense, we are a community—dedicated to you!
Since 1978, we have served the Charlotte region. What started as the Charlotte
Apple Computer Club (CACC)—a group of dedicated Apple ][ users who
would literally tote their expensive "toys" to meetings and
share personally-written applications—has
evolved into your regional Macintosh Users Group. Incorporated through
the North Carolina Secretary of State in 1983, we are well-organized,
legitimate, and dedicated.
Does the CACC meet
regularly and if so, where?
CACC hosts a monthly general meeting
the 2nd Tuesday of the month at
7:00 p.m. We are currently researching long-term meeting space, and
are planning to announce a great new location shortly. To verify the
date, time, location, or topic of any monthly meeting, please check CACC’s
news items on the home page of our Web site. All of our meetings are
free and open to the public.
